Texas Tech

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Mateo Rosiles on Cody Campbell and Dusty Womble elected to oversee the Texas Tech University System, as chair and vice chair respectively. Congrats to both, that is quite the undertaking!

On the Diamond

Texas Tech softball fell to Arizona, 2-1, on Thursday night. Obviously a close game, but could not get the offense rolling. Game 2 starts at 7:00 p.m. on FS1.

Texas Tech baseball dropped game 1, 10-4, to Arizona State. This was a close game for 7.5 innings, but ASU scored 5 in the bottom of the 8th inning. Game 2 starts at 9:00 p.m. on ESPN2.

On the Hardwood

Kevin Overton announced that he will transfer to Auburn. Good for Overton and all of the best for him (unless Auburn plays Texas Tech).

I don’t know how you feel, but I think that Chance McMillian has a real chance to play professionally, near NBA, but maybe not ready yet. He’s currently participating in the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament, which is a pre-NBA Draft showcase.

On the Gridiron

Texas Tech’s spring football game is set for tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. at Jones AT&T and it is free admission.

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams on what head coach Joey McGuire on the spring game:

“It’s a really good group of guys,” McGuire said this week. “It’s been a lot of fun this spring. I think we’ve got a lot of work to do, but we’ve also come a long ways when you’re talking about putting in a brand-new offense and a brand-new defense. Just the operation … You kind of take some of that for granted when you’ve been in a system for three years and all of a sudden you change your system — not just coaches, but players, too.”

Open for Business’ John Kurtz on the most important Big 12 players, with Behren Morton at #1 for Texas Tech.

Shiel Wood was on with David Smoak and it was a good interview.
