On the Hardwood

Congrats to Bubba Jennings and Jason Sasser who will be part of the Texas Tech Men’s Basketball Ring of Honor, joining Rick Bullock, Andre Emmett, Dub Malaise, and Jim Reed. A huge honor for both men. Congrats!

CBS Sports did the right thing and named JT Toppin CBS Sports All-American First Team:

Toppin took his game to unimaginable heights as a sophomore at Texas Tech after shining as a freshman at New Mexico. Despite entering a tougher league and logging just 27.2 minutes per game, the 6-foot-9 post threat was regularly the best player on the floor for a Red Raiders team that reached the Elite Eight.

He averaged 18.2 points, 9.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks for the season and turned it up even more down the stretch. Toppin averaged 22.3 points over Texas Tech’s final 15 games. — DC

Chris Beard decided to stay at Ole Miss, which means that Texas A&M and the Aggies have been left at the altar. That means that there will be people with connections saying that TAMU should at least ask Grant McCasland if he’s interested and we’ll go through this song and dance. It wouldn’t surprise me to see McCasland receive a raise and an extension because that’s what happens, but I think the Aggies will be looking for someone else.

On the Diamond
