Taking a Breath
I’m absolutely not sure what to do with my time. Since November we’ve been previewing and and recapping games, mostly two per week, which takes up a huge chunk of time. Truthfully, I’ve gotten so comfortable with my preview and post-game thoughts that it becomes second nature, but it’s still how I spent most of my time.
On the Diamond
Texas Tech baseball was swept yesterday in Manhattan by Kansas State, the final game on Sunday was a 5-4 loss. I admittedly just haven’t had time to keep track of things and I am sure that this is not the way that Tim Tadlock envisioned things going. I also think that Tadlock is still a good coach and don’t have a lot fo answers beyond that. They will host Oklahoma for a mid-week game and then Cincinnati for the weekend.
Texas Tech softball swept Kansas over the weekend, games on Friday and a double-header on Saturday. These ladies move to 26-9 on the year, travel to Abilene to take on ACU in a mid-week game, then host Utah for the weekend series.
On the Gridiron
CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd writes about how Texas Tech is poised to thrive in the new era of revenue sharing. I am uncomfortable with all of this praise and am not sure how to take it, but I do think that Texas Tech has more people actively thinking about how to solve this riddle from last year to the coming years of uncertainty (at least uncertain right now). I recommend reading the whole thing. I’m also posting the Josh Pate interview below.
One other note, if you have never listened to Josh Pate, he gets it. He’s smart and thoughtful and he’s not head over heels in love with the Big Ten and SEC. I’d also add Joel Klatt to this list of people that I don’t agree with entirely on all things, but I think he’s also smart and thoughtful. We need more of people like them and less of people like Herby.
CBS Sports’ Shehan Jeyarajah went through and picked every game. I won’t spoil anything, but I think you’ll like what he predicts for Texas Tech’s record.
