1. Stats. Arizona is on a roll. If it were not for the Texas Tech loss, they’d be on a 13-game winning streak and they really arent’ slowing down since they hit conference play. The offense and defense are trending up for the Wildcats, but on offense, they are terrific inside the arc, 49th in the nation, 23rd in offensive rebounding and 6th in turnover percentage. The one issue is 3-point shooting, 221st overall. On defense, they have two areas that are an issue, 3-point defense, 106th, and forcing turnovers, 112th. Other than that, they are solid. Arizona is 28th in 2-point defense, 84th in limiting offensive boards, 70th in free throw rate and 55th in block percentage.
2. Scouting. When Texas Tech played Arizona I sensed some real issues Arizona fan satisfaction with Love’s play and he is their best player. I am sure they wished he would shoot better, just 47% from the field and 33% from deep, but he’s a low turnover and high steal guy that doesn’t have to have the ball in his hands to score. I think they’d love to see Bradley shoot better, but he’s still a positive on the offensive and a high steal rate. Dell’Orso is their best shooter by a wide margin, but that’s pretty much all he does. Awaka, Veesaar and Krivas are the main rebounders and shot-blockers. They will anchor the defense.
3. How They Match Up. This is pretty well a pick’em game as well and I wouldn’t blame you if you picked Texas Tech. These are both good teams. Texas Tech proved they can win on the road in a tough environment and they’ve sort of been doing that all year. Texas Tech’s biggest advantage is that they shoot the 3-point shot really well and Arizona doesn’t guard that well at all.

It’ll be late in Tucson, but worth the wait.
Off to its best Big 12 start in program history, winners of nine of 10, and on a seven-game winning streak, No. 13 Texas Tech races out west to play against No. 20 Arizona for a 9:30 p.m. (CST) showdown on Saturday at the McKale Memorial Center. The Red Raiders (18-4, 9-2 Big 12) are 5-0 on the road this season and will look to sweep the regular-season series over the Wildcats (16-6, 10-1 Big 12) after earning a 70-54 win back on January 18 in Lubbock in the first meeting. The 54th matchup in the all-time series will be broadcast on ESPN while the Texas Tech Sports Network radio call can be heard locally on Double T 97.3, and on the Varsity app.
