On the Court
The Lady Raiders fell to Colorado yesterday 67-51 in Boulder and that drops them to 14-10 and 3-8 in conference. They will host Utah on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m.
CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish wrote about the ejection of TJ Toppin and head coach Grant McCasland while moving Texas Tech to No. 15 in his 25+1 poll that he does every day.
Only a non-serious person would even try to suggest what happened there was worthy of an ejection. So I understand why McCasland was furious; he should’ve been. Either way, all’s well that ends well. So McCasland and Toppin were all smiles Saturday night — and they are now the faces of a team that’s ranked 15th in Sunday morning’s updated CBS Sports Top 25 And 1 daily college basketball rankings, where Auburn remains No. 1 for the 26th consecutive day.
On the Diamond
Double-T 97.3’s Jamie Lent goes through the entire lineup and projects where he thinks each player will be based on team practices. If baseball is your thing, this is a great read today.
On the Gridiron
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams has his projected starters for the spring and I won’t post much of it, but I will mention that for me, I think the biggest battles will be on the offensive line, particularly at both tackle spots, but right guard as well. Defensively I think that Shiel Woods likes to run a 3-4 so I wonder if/how the responsibility of the OLB will change at ll. Here’s Williams’ guess as to the defensive line:
DE: Charles Esters, Sr.; Amier Washington, So.; x-Joseph Adedire, Jr.; x-Dylan Spencer, So.
NG: Lee Hunter, Sr.; x-Dooda Banks, Sr.; Jayden Cofield, So.
NT: Skyler Gill-Howard, Sr.; Anthony Holmes, Jr.; Braylon Rigsby, So.
DE/OLB: Romello Height, Sr.; Isaac Smith, Jr.; Terrell Tilmon, Jr.; Ansel Nedore, Fr-RS
