The Lady Raiders were walloped by No. 17 West Virginia at home, 89-53 last night, their third loss in a row. Texas Tech had 26 turnovers. That’s not a typo. The Lady Raiders will host No. 11 TCU on Saturday. This loss to WVU dropped Texas Tech to 74, previously at 62, in T-Rank rankings.

Softballers Samantha Lincoln and Hailey Toney were named to the D1Softball D100 Freshman Watch List and NiJaree Canady has been named preseason first team All-American.

Baseballer sophomore TJ Pompey was named as a preseason third team All-American by Perfect Game.

On the Gridiron

Texas Tech football announced that Darcel McBath was named as the cornerbacks coach:

“I’ve been impressed with Coach McBath since his arrival on our staff this past season,” McGuire said. “He has a proven track record of developing several NFL-caliber corners in his career and will be a great asset to our entire defensive staff as we move forward. Coach McBath has a passion for this football program, and we’re excited to see him continue to excel in this new position.”

McBath was an analyst last year after coaching at Mississippi State with Mike Leach from 2020 to 2023 and was also with Leach at Washington State from 2017 through 2019. As of right now, there’s not a position group for defensive coordinator Shiel Wood, who I believe will coach linebackers, which means that something will have to give here as Josh Bookbinder is the inside linebackers coach.
