Good morning. Am back at work and up late (taking Youssouf to practice) and didn’t have the time to really write anything for today (although I think yesterday’s post was a banger). I’ll have a game preview tomorrow morning.
Dave Campbell’s Carter Yates with a New Year’s resolution for each team in Texas:
Texas Tech – Write donor Cody Campbell a Thank-You Note
In the wake of a disappointing 41-27 loss to Colorado, a Texas Tech fan fired a Tweet to the program’s NIL collective co-founder, Cody Campbell, asking Campbell to buy them a new offensive line. Campbell’s response, “I Will,” has since been made into a T-Shirt after his promise came to fruition. Campbell and The Matador Club gave head coach Joey McGuire the financial backing to sign the nation’s No.2-ranked Transfer Portal class.
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Geise on UCF going straight at Darrion Williams:
From the opening tip of the game, Hall went after Texas Tech basketball’s Darrion Williams, forcing his way to the paint time and time again. Williams won the first exchange, forcing Hall to travel, but UCF’s 6-foot-7 wing had the last laugh many times over.
Williams was slow to react and couldn’t keep Hall from getting bucket after bucket. By halftime, Hall had 17 points on 7-of-7 shooting from the field. He slowed down a bit in the second half, but he had done is job, effectively taking Tech’s best playmaker out of sync.
“My biggest thing was trying to get him in foul trouble because he’s a good, good player and he can affect the game in multiple ways,” Hall said. “We get him out of the game, they will probably have a hard time and struggle because he’s a big playmaker on the team. I was just trying to get at him and get him out the game and just stay in attack mode while doing it.”
