Florida Atlantic names Zach Kittley as the Hagerty Family Head Football Coach:
“I am thrilled at this opportunity to be the head coach at Florida Atlantic,” said Kittley. “I am extremely grateful. I want to thank Vice President and Director of Athletics Brian White and President Stacy Volnick for believing in me to take over this nationally-regarded program. I know we can win here, and we have tremendous leadership from the top down to create a championship program. I am excited to get to know the student-athletes, build a staff, and get out in the community, and engage our tremendous supporters. My wife, Emily, and my family are excited and can’t wait to get to Boca Raton!”

Kittley was the offensive coordinator at Texas Tech and arrived with Joey McGuire in 2022, allegedly turning down bigger money to coach at his alma mater.
I was not one of these people, but there was a contingent of Texas Tech fans who were not happy with Kittley’s performance despite having one of the best offenses in the nation, 8th in scoring and 1st in the Big 12 and in Sharp College Football, the offense ranked 25th overall. Kittley certainly had his faults, every offensive coordinator will, and he maybe should have run when he passed or whatever. I theorized that Joey McGuire had a much bigger influence on the tone of the offense (not specific play calling) than we all would like to admit.
My hat is off to Kittley, I wish him the best of luck in Boca Raton. It’s never easy to come back home to coach and I thought that Kittley did a really good job of that, especially while having to juggle different quarterbacks in his first and second year. Joey McGuire will now have the opportunity to hire two new coordinators.
