On the Court (Basketball)

The Athletic is counting down the top 25 teams and Texas Tech sits at 16 for them and how the offense will operate:

“It may be individual guys that can go get their own shot is not going to be a strength, but we can put pressure on the rim because of the spacing that all these guys that can shoot provide,” McCasland said. “I do think we need to play quicker on misses and makes, so that way we’re not up against the clock and we can just keep the ball moving long enough to where these guys through the course of multiple actions can get enough good shots.”

They’ve also got the starters as Elijah Hawkins, Chance McMillian, Kerwin Walton, Darrion Williams and JT Toppin. I could see a situation where Federiko Federiko starts and I think that pushes out Walton, but I’m not sure.

CBS Sports’ Gary Parrish writes about the Big 12 and how deep the conference is.

On the Gridiron

Cyclone Fanatic’s Rob Gray on five Texas Tech players to watch:

LB Jacob Rodriguez
Rodriquez leads Texas Tech in tackles with 70 and is coming off an injury redshirt season. The 6-1, 230-pound junior from Wichita Falls, Texas, has forced two fumbles and recovered one. He’s tied for the team lead in passes defended with three, and before joining the Red Raiders, he played on the offensive side of the ball at Virginia.

Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams on the report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel that came out last night that QB Behren Morton is expected to start this week.

Inside The Red Raiders’ Joe Yeager has additional thoughts after the game and recommend you read this. Topics include not tackling on defense, Tahj Brooks maybe getting worn down, and two facemask calls that weren’t called, including on the Will Hammond fumble.
