Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Giese: Texas Tech football visits TCU: Scouting report, predictions for Big 12 game
Score prediction: TCU 39, Texas Tech 28
Bottom line: Perhaps it’s the stink of the Baylor game still hanging in the air. Both teams excel on offense, where the opponent is very vulnerable on defense. But this sets up for a Horned Frog victory and it’s up to the Red Raiders to prove it wrong.
Midland Reporter Telegram’s Oscar LeRoy: LEROY: Texas Tech needs to respond against TCU
McGuire said he has confidence in his team not spiraling downward because of what he’s seen from the leadership on the team.
“We have such a good locker room,” he said. “There is no finger pointing. We have some mature men. In the meeting (on Sunday), I would be the first one to say that I didn’t do a good job on Saturday. We’re all in it together. Whenever you have true ownership in what you’re doing, before you start pointing fingers, you know there were other things you could have done. I don’t think that’s happening. It could happen, so it’s my job to keep it out.”

Action Network’s Brett Pund: Texas Tech vs TCU Prediction, Pick, Odds for Saturday, October 26
If we’re looking at turnovers, TCU comes into this matchup ranked 131st in the FBS in giveaways per game at 2.5. This is the same squad that is minus-10 on the season in turnover margin.
As for the defense, it does look like the Horned Frogs would be the side on paper. However, I’m not fully buying this due to the opposition played so far.
Yes, TCU is ranked inside the Top 40 in both PFF’s Coverage grades and Pass Success Rate allowed. I think this is primarily down to the weak passing attacks the Frogs have faced in Stanford, LIU, Kansas, Houston and Utah.
When they stepped up in competition against UCF and SMU, those schools combined for 101 points, TCU is also inside the Bottom 10 among Power 4 programs in Pass Play Rate on defense.
I just believe this is too many points, and I think Texas Tech is live to win this outright to keep the Saddle Trophy for another year.
Pick: Texas Tech +7 (Play to +4.5)
