On the Pitch
Texas Tech soccer had a 1-1 draw with Colorado last night, despite a 23-5 shot advantage, they just weren’t able to find the back of the net more than once. These ladies will host Iowa State on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. for Senior Day.
On the Diamond
Texas Tech baseball has been named the preseason no. 17 team by D1 Baseball. I don’t have a clue about these things and I’m always worried about pitching, but I’m always ready to be optimistic.

On the Gridiron
Texas Tech released the Patrick Mahomes Strategy uniform with the Mahomes’ Gladiator logo:
The Mahomes Strategy uniform features a Dark Grey tackle swill with printed metallic films and Power Red accents. Inspired by the 45-degree bevel found across Texas Tech’s campus and the angular nature of Mahomes’ iconography, the helmet, logos and numbers are displayed in a metallic film with galvanized finishes. Texas Tech’s football team will wear the Mahomes Strategy uniform for the first time at home against Colorado on Nov. 9.
“Seeing my own logo on the Texas Tech uniform I put so much blood, sweat and tears in is one of the most meaningful off-field accomplishments of my career,” said Mahomes, a Texas Tech alum. “I want to thank the three-stripe family for giving me this one-of-a-kind opportunity.”
I am maybe supposed to give a take about the uniforms and I always have to remind myself that they aren’t really for me. They are for the players and there are things that are beyond me. Youssouf liked them if that gives you any indication about whether or not young people like them. I’d also add that I dislike the adidas AlphaBoost V2, but they keep making them for every school. Again, these things aren’t for me and I’m absolutely okay with that.
Ultimately, I’m incredibly happy that Patrick Mahomes is involved in Texas Tech athletics and I’m incredibly happy that he’s releasing uniforms and I’m incredibly happy that Texas Tech is one of a handful of schools that is intimately involved with their athletic clothing provider and the biggest one with adidas.
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Nathan Giese writes about Texas Tech football taking a look at themselves at the bye and knowing that certain things need to be fixed:
This involves the offensive staff critiquing the Texas Tech defense and the defensive staff digging deep into the Red Raider offense.
“I can’t wait for Sunday,” McGuire said. “I asked them to leave their egos at the door and be very critical of each other, be very critical of me. I’m really excited about that. I hope we still come out as friends after that meeting and everything. I’ve already seen some of it. There’s going to be some things that I think can really help us. We’re going to take it to heart.”
