We’ll start with the questions that rat things from a scale of 1 to 5. now, I didn’t put the questions in reverse order, that’s just the way that Excel spit the chart out to me and I’m not smart enough to figure out how to fix that. Generally speaking, I think most are relatively happy, but lots of yellow in certain spots, so maybe a bit of riding the fence, not completely disappointed, but also not completely happy either, which is understandable in some respects. A couple of things to note, you all think that Tim Tadlock for his career has been outstanding, but he had a not so great season. There is no reason that STP should have gotten that many 5 ratings. You all are too kind. I think you all are generally pretty happy with Joey McGuire and I thought that Grant McCasland would have had higher marks for his last season.
Up next are the yes/no questions. Very confident that Texas Tech will make it to the post-season. I am surprised that so few of you contribute to the Matador Club, but maybe I should not (more on that in a bit). I’m on board with you all thinking that student-athletes deserve NIL, I think how it is determined is the $64,000 question.
The next question was related to whether or not you thought that any of the programs need new facilities and an outdoor track and field was overwhelmingly the favorite followed by soccer and softball.
These next two questions were intended to make you choose a bit, what’s really at the heart at what’s destroying athletics and on one hand it’s NIL and on the other it is the large media conglomerates, your ESPN or FOX type of networks. Most of you think that NIL is destroying college athletics and maybe this is why a majority of you who took this survey you don’t give to the Matador Club.
And with the answers here, I think more of you think that the television situation is ruining college athletics and this is the one where 73% of you think that these networks are at the heart of the issue. I tend to agree.
Most of you think that college athletes should be paid, but there should be some sort of cap in place and I tend to think that things are headed this way.
Most of you think that the Big 12 will eventually take over the ACC. I wonder what a similar poll would look like in North Carolina or South Carolina and how they feel.
You all aren’t so sure about Florida State and Clemson being part of the Big 12 and I’m there too. They want a big chunk of change and bigger share. I’ve been down that road before.
I share with most of you that the powers that be will always see to it that Texas Tech will remain part of a power conference.
The podcast community appears to be in good hands and I think the lineup is incredibly deep. It feels like there are a lot of options.
I had to hover over the pie chart to get the full results and don’t think that I could even get all of it. Most of you think that Texas Tech will be in that 7 to 9 range. Here’s the breakdown.
1-3 – 1vote 0.3%
5 – 1 vote 0.3%
6 – 7 votes 2.0%
7- 60 votes 17.4
8 – 150 votes 43.6%
9 – 103 votes 29.9%
10 – 20 votes 5.8%
11 – 2 votes 0.6%
Most of you are pretty confident that Texas Tech basketball will make it pretty deep in the NCAA Tournament. I think McCasland has a very talented squad.
Most of you think that at the least Texas Tech baseball will be back in the post-season, and I am shocked that a quarter of you think that Texas Tech is winning the whole thing.
This was a lot of fun going though the answers and I definitely want to improve on how I ask the questions and the answers. I know I wasn’t clear on some of them and apologize for that. I’d also be interested if you all would like a survey a couple of weeks after the season ends for a particular sport. Maybe not right after because that’s too close to the heat of the moment.
