Big man Jayden Quaintance was originally committed to Kentucky, but flipped to Arizona State, while shooting guard Joson Sanon was originally committed to Arizona before flipping to the Sun Devils. I’m not sure what happened with Bo Aldridge, but he was maybe part of the 2023 class and was delayed and is now joining Arizona State. If it’s not clear, this Hurley is attempting to win with freshmen, very talented freshmen. Should also note that Quaintance is very young for his grade, and the NBA requires that you are 19, so who knows how long he’ll be there. Sanon said he wants to be a one-and-done player and he’s one of those players that reclassified, which means he was held back for a year (intentionally or because of grades) and was an older player playing against younger competition.
As far as returners and transfers, BJ Freeman is a guard who should have an immediate impact as well as Mason, a point guard, and Jihad, a big man. Like a lot of transfers from smaller schools, don’t expect the type of contributions they made at smaller schools. Adam Miller is the lone returnee that will likely make a significant impact.
