On the Gridiron
The first commit of the day was cornerback Swayde Griffin from Lago Vista (6-1.5/185), a 3-star at Rivals and 24/7 Sports and without a rating on On3 that I could tell (Rivals | 24/7 Sports | On3). Griffin had offers from Arizona, Arizona State and Minnesota along with Texas Tech, while Texas Tech was his first Division I offer.
It’s amazing how height can have such a huge impact at receiver and at cornerback. It makes a difference. Griffin is a good athlete, so being tall isn’t his only thing. It’s been noted that he won the state title in the 4A 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.75 seconds. That’s fast
lets get it 100% committed

The second commitment of the day was from wide receiver Bryson Jones (6-3/180) from Lone Star in Frisco. Jones is a 4-star in 3 of the 4 services, 24/7 Sports being the lone outlier (Rivals | 24/7 Sports | On3 | ESPN). Jones had offers from all over the place: Arkansas, Baylor, Cal, Houston, Illinois, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Michigan State, Penn State, SMU, TCU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Utah, and Wisconsin. That’s just the bigger program but there are others.

Jones is a super smooth athlete, that stride looks good and it’s fast. He high-points a couple of passes and he’s got defensive backs running scared. Kinds looks like a mature pass catcher as he’s just in stride with everything on the highlight reel.
On the Diamond
Texas Tech freshman infielder TJ Pompey was named a Freshman All-American by the NCBWA:
A native of Coppell, Pompey shined in his first seasons donning the Scarlett and Black, as the infielder hit .279 with 11 doubles, a pair of triples and the aforementioned 10 home runs. Pompey slugged .516 for the season and stole 12 bases.
