Texas Tech Basketball | 2024-25 Eligibility Chart Version 8.0

Texas Tech received a commitment from 4-star point guard Christian Anderson, Jr. (6-1/160) from Oak Hill Academy, Mouth of Wilson, Virginia. Anderson was originally committed to Michigan, but when Michigan let Juwan Howard go as head coach, Anderson opened up his commitment (Rivals | 24/7 Sports | On3 | ESPN).

I think this was relatively known by people in the know, but not known by me because I’m not in the know. The reason I think this is because Red Raider Sports had 3 commitment stories ready to publish when Anderson’s decision went live: Benjamin Golan; Jarrett Ramirez; and Rob Cassidy. Here’s a bit from Cassidy’s post, but if you are here, go ahead and click on all three of the stories.

An elite tough-shot-maker and one of the best three-point shooters in the 2024 class, Anderson was once looked at as a long-range specialist, but he’s evolved well beyond that over the past year. The 5-foot-11 guard has diversified his offensive repertoire and has molded himself into a three-level scorer that manages to stay within the offense and post impressive shooting percentages to go along with gaudy point totals. Anderson will always be a bit limited defensively because of his lack of length, but he plays with a good motor on that end of the floor and can stay in front of most anyone on the perimeter. Anderson was asked to do a lot scoring-wise for Oak Hill this season, so his facilitation ability was on the back burner a bit, but the four-star point guard sees the court relatively well and is an above average ball-handler. Anderson’s top-flight shooting ability should allow him to impact the Big 12 as a freshman, but he’ll likely really come into his own down the road as he adds additional muscle and polish.

And some highlights.

Overall, this is really filling out the guard positions and I couldn’t be happier. A near-top 100 player who should learn from a senior in Elijah Hawkins and that’s likely your primary point guards for 2024-25. I am sure that the next players will be some bigs and hopefully that will happen once the NBA Draft Combine is over and done with. There are three spots remaining. I also have been meaning to mention that Darrion Williams is listed as a guard and from my end and my eye-test, he’s a forward all day long that can shoot from the outside.
