The Lady Raiders will be in action tonight to host Sam Houston State with tip-off at 6:00 p.m. The Lady Raiders are also receiving votes in the AP Top 25 so there’s some momentum behind their 9-0 start.
The Texas Tech soccer staff was named the Midwest Coaching Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches Association. Congrats! Additionally, five players were named on the All-Regions’ Teams: Hannah Anderson, Macy Blackburn, Sam Courtwright, Madison White and Ashleigh Williams. Congrats!
Red Raider Sports’ Ben Golan on the commitment of Garden City C.C. tight end Alexander Lines (6-5/255). Lines caught 31 passes for 309 yards and 2 touchdowns for Garden City Last year.
Texas Tech will play California in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport, Louisiana on December 16th at 8:15 on ESPN. I hadn’t even had time to link to this since Sunday with yesterday’s post. This game is essentially right around the corner, not this Saturday, but next Saturday and I’ll be in Round Rock that weekend for Youssouf’s Olympic Development Team soccer tournament, which is his first one since he’s joined the team. You can expect that 10 Things will not be based off of me watching the game, statistical only.
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams has the updated list of players who have entered the transfer portal. I saw something online that this is “With That Being Said” Season as that’s how these announcements tend to work. Thus far it is the following: DB Nate Floyd, OG Seth Martin, OT Monroe Mills, IR Nehemiah Martinez, WR Jerand Bradley, IR Myles Price, OT Matt Keeler, QB Tyler Shough, and OG Landon Peterson.
Red Raider Sports’ Jarrett Ramirez reported on the press conference that head coach Joey McGuire had on Sunday (in his vehicle) and here’s a bit on the possibility of freshmen wide receivers to play in the bowl game.
“It’s gonna be interesting, that was last week, we lifted the old guys, ran them to keep in shape, we had developmental practices, we practice those guys full scrimmage if they don’t play in a game every Sunday,” McGuire said. “With TJ West, with Kelby (Valsin), with DJ Crest, I’ve been really happy with their progress. It’s gonna be interesting, there’ll be a lot of competition on the snaps for the bowl game… You got DJ Crest that he plays the outside, TJ West has played more of the outside in practice and Kelby has been more on the inside. We feel good about the guys we have and the guys that have played a lot.”
Chance McMillian was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week and don’t forget that the Red Raiders will be in action tomorrow night against Omaha.
