Episode 3 of the preseason show of the men’s basketball team has been released. This goes into the trip to the Big 12 Media Days and some practice footage, along with the interaction with the Raider Riot student group.
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams reports that tight end Jayden York is accused of a second sptting incident and, well, yeah.
In this angle after the 4th down fumble inside the 10 yard line, Texas Tech TE Jayden York (#15) who was later thrown out for spitting on Tyler Batty, takes his mouthpiece out, looks around and spits at Eddie Heckard (BYU #5). pic.twitter.com/tSbT0cuXiB

Yesterday, head coach Joey McGuire said that he didn’t see any video proof in the incident with defensive lineman Tyler Batty, but this looks pretty clear.
Lubbock Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams has an 8-week assessment, including offensive, defensive, and special teams MVP’s, Tahj Brooks, Dadrion Taylor-Demerson, and Austin McNamara, biggest surprise, biggest disappointment, and much more. Here’s the bit on biggest disappointment:
At their current pace, the Red Raiders wouldn’t have a receiver reach 500 yards for the first time since 1999. It would be one thing if it were a new, inexperienced cast, but it isn’t. Preseason all-Big 12 selection Jerand Bradley (51 catches, 744 yards, six touchdowns in 2022), Myles Price (coming off back-to-back 500-yard seasons), Xavier White (45-572-3 in 2022) and Nehemiah Martinez (32-394-2 in 2022) all are experiencing year-over-year declines. Moreover, big plays haven’t materialized as hoped for speed receivers Loic Fouonji and Drae McCray.
I think part of the disappointment is the quarterback play and the interceptions/turnovers, but yeah, there’s not been a dominant receiver and that’s a problem.
