Never a doubt. Texas Tech baseball won 2 of 3 from Sam Houston State and although the Red Raiders coudn’t sweep, I’ll take 2 of 3. Up next is Abilene Christian on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. where they’ll resume the game from April 25th where I think Texas Tech is down 6-0 and then will complete a game.
The women’s golf team is in Pullman for their NCAA regional with the top 5 scoring teams advancing to the NCAA Championships at Arizona State. It’s 54 holes of stroke play and 18 holes per day though Wednesday. Let’s go.
Was I hoping for some basketball news? Yes, I was. Am I nervous about not having more than a handful of players? Yes, but I’m pretty patient and I do think that McCasland has a plan (fingers crossed).
CBS Sports’ Shehan Jeyarajah writes about the spring football overreactions:
The Red Raiders are going to the Big 12 title game: Tyree Wilson was the program’s highest NFL Draft pick since 1965, but the Texas Tech still managed to go 3-0 with Wilson out of the lineup in 2022. With the vast majority of the offense back in 2023, expect even more. Defensively, the Red Raiders have a few holes to fill, but true freshman Dylan Spencer grew tremendously in spring camp. Meanwhile, safeties Jordan Sanford and Brenden Jordan could push for playing time right away. The quarterback room is in its best shape perhaps since Patrick Mahomes graduated with multiple strong options. The upside is there.
