Things are supposed to be chill on a holiday. I hope everyone had a great holiday.
Grant McCasland named two assistant coaches with the hiring of Achoki Moikobu and Matt Braeuer:
“He is a relentless recruiter with a brilliant basketball mind,” McCasland said of Braeuer. “He had success as a player and had coached at the highest levels. He also has a great feel for what winning looks like.”
“Coach AC has great experience as a head coach in prep school and a great assistant coach for us,” McCasland said of Moikobu. “He does a great job of developing and building relationships. He is as authentic as it gets. I think he has a tremendous overall perspective of the game and is really special in individual workouts because he understands how to get the best out of players on a daily basis.”
Texas Tech guard De’Vion Harmon announced that he would enter the 2023 NBA Draft. I think that this means that Harmon will likely not return to Texas Tech so he’ll play either in the NBA or professionally somewhere. I liked Harmon as a person, but I’m not sure he was a good fit for Texas Tech’s offense. In fact, I think that Harmon will likely be a better pro given his ability to get to the rim, but work on that jump shot relentlessly. In addition to Harmon, Fardaws Aimaq has announced that he will transfer to California, while Robert Jennings, Elijah Fisher, KJ Allen, and Daniel Batcho have all hit the portal. On3 says that Jennings will go to Ole Miss, which I ain’t got nothing good to say about that so I’ll just say I hope for the best for Jennings if that’s what he chooses.
Texas Tech baseball dropped their first game against North Dakota State 8-1 on Friday night and then won the next two on Saturday, 8-5 and 8-3. These Red Raiders will be in Palo Alto for two games against No. 8 Stanford, first pitch is at 6:00 p.m. tonight and at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Monday night is on the Pac-12 Network and Tuesday the game is on Pac-12 Insider, which is a free streaming platform.
