Starting 5
1. Stats. OSU is good offensively, but we’ve may have found a team that’s worse at turnovers than Texas Tech, 311th in turnover percentage and that may be worse because Avery Anderson is out with a broken wrist. The Cowboys are 93rd in offensive rebounding, which is fine and 173rd in free throw rate, also not particularly great. Oklahoma State doesn’t shoot well from deep, 239th overall, and 143rd with 2-point shooting. Defensively is where Oklahoma State makes their mark, 5th in holding opponents in eFG%, 16th in 3-point shooting allowed, 8th in 2-point shooting, and 7th in block percentage. Their only flaw is free throw rate, where they put teams on the line a ton, 329th in the nation.
2. Scouting. Boone is the best player by far. A terrific offensive rebounder, offensive player, shot-blocker, and other that Anderson had the highest usage rate. I don’t know if this changes the way the offense operates, which already isn’t great, but it will have an effect.Cisse and Smith are great shot-blockers and rebounders and that’s a huge key to the offense.
3. How They Match Up. Texas Tech is a dog by 7.6 points according to advanced stats with a 21% chance of winning, so the likelihood is that Texas Tech will not win the game, but if OSU was vulnerable, it would be this game and the Cowboys figure out life without Anderson. This could prove to be a sloppy game because both teams turn the ball over a ton, but Texas Tech is better at forcing them by a good ways. The last game out against Baylor, Washington got the start over Batcho and that will likely happen again as OSU starts 4 guards and a big.

5. Official Site. The official site has their preview right here:
Texas Tech and Oklahoma State will meet for the first time this season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
“Oklahoma State is playing as well as it’s played all year,” Texas Tech coach Mark Adams said. “They have seven returners back and along with that experience they are also a very athletic team. We have a lot of respect for them. We have struggled playing there in the past. It’s a tough place to play and they have a great team and coaching staff. It’ll be a challenge for us, but we’ve been working hard and will be ready to go.”
The Red Raiders (12-11, 1-9 Big 12) are coming off an 89-62 loss at No. 11 Baylor last Saturday, while the Cowboys (14-9, 5-5 Big 12) extended their winning streak to three games with a 79-73 win over No. 17 TCU at home. OSU is currently 10-2 at Gallagher-Iba this season going into its matchup against Tech which is now 0-5 in conference road games. The two teams will meet again in the regular-season finale at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 4 in Lubbock.
