Texas Tech was able to gain the commitment from former Texas commit, Dylan Spencer, a 4-star defensive end from the Houston area.

24/7 Sports/ Steve Wiltfong about his flip:
“I know Coach Blanchard, he’s been real close with my family,” Spencer told 247Sports. “Basically they all feel like family.
“Don’t get me wrong Texas is a great place but I feel Texas Tech is a better fit for me.”
That article notes that this past year Spencer had 75 tackles, 20 tackles for a loss, 33 QB hurries, and 9 sacks. Based on the film, that’s all true, Spencer is a strong player that seems physically mature already and able to overwhelm opposing offensive linemen (he’s #12). Really good speed for someone his size and that’s pretty much how a player gets a 4-star rating.
