Red Raider Sports’ Ben Golan has the full breakdown of Myers’ commitment to Texas Tech:
This was at least Myers’ third trip to campus this year, initially visiting in mid-January before returning to camp with Tech in June. Myers says he had a good time visiting the coaches and other recruits this weekend.
“Well first it was me and my family, we went and sat down at a table. We were eating and the coaches came down to sit with us and we were just talking. I had never talked to them for that long and just like had that connection feel like that before. It was amazing.
My mom, she was really happy there too. It’s always been a dream, just watching Tech since I was a kid growing up on TV and stuff. I just feel like it was the plan in my heart, Tech is the place I needed to be.
There’s more there at the link.
According to the 24/7 Sports link, Myers caught 34 passes for 415 yards as a sophmore with 4 touchdowns and 23 tackles and 4 pass breakups on defense.
The RRS article linked above notes that Myers is supposed to play offense, but there’s plenty of defensive highlights. Strange to watch a more mechanical quarterback and offense as a lot of high school teams are really smooth and slick, his quarterback. Regardless, I don’t think I get a real feel for how Myers is at receiver, but you can definitely tell he is a high-end athlete that has physical traits but needs to grow into his body. It’s one of those things, especially as you have kids, he’s doing this against guys that are a year or two older than him and that makes a big difference. It’s also my guess that a 23.44 200m as a sophomore helps the equation.
