El Paso wide receiver Demarion Crest became the 19th commitment of the 2023 recruiting class.
Extremely blessed to announce my
commitment to Texas Tech University to pursue my dreams of playing Division 1 football! Thank you to everyone who has made this possible along the way! @TTU_EJones @jkbtjc_53 @TexasTechFB #LTH #GunsUp #Committed pic.twitter.com/3OiZakvVSW— Demarion Crest (DJ) (@theeonlyydj) April 25, 2022
Crest is a big receiver that is physically dominating smaller players. That’s always a good thing when it happens and is at the very least he is utilizing his size. I think my favorite highlight is where he’s utilizing his deep threat where he makes a nice cut and is wide open. many times the quarterback is just sort of chunking the ball down the field. I also think that Crest has excellent speed for his size, is not so tall that he’s lanky and uncoordinated, that’s not the case at all from what I can tell.
In fact he’s so coordinated that he’s running a 22.38 in the 200m with a 22-7 long jump and 42-8.5 triple jump. As a junior, Crest caught 46 passes for 848 yards and 11 touchdowns. Best thing about this is that this is yet another West Texas player, granted El Paso is sort of it’s own deal (and I mean that in a good way, they’re the Westiest of West Texas) and we’re about to get to another player profile with another El Paso player.
