This takes a bit of explanation. Eakin led Stephenville to the state championship, literally, with 93 receptions, 2,140 yards, 31 touchdowns, and the state championship MVP. The 2,140 yards was apparently the nation’s best which would not surprise me.
Now, let’s get to the list of offers because that’s the most random list I’ve ever seen and I love it. I don’t normally do two videos because I figure if you want to watch more, you’ll click the Hudl link above, but we’ve got time. These are Eakin’s highlights from the state championship game. He’s a man among boys.
And now let’s get to the senior highlights.
What stands out the most? Eakin’s hands would probably be it for me. there’s a lot more there though, as the size and strength are definitely there. He’s just sort of dunking on smaller opponents and his hand-eye coordination is sort of off-the-charts. Give him space and he’ll catch whatever, so I’d probably not run zone on him. I don’t know what his speed is, but it is fast-enough. The question is why Eakin has only recently received any Power-5 offers, Texas Tech, Washington State, and TCU, and I don’t really have an answer. Regardless, I think this is the type of player, productive, from West Texas, that you want in your program.
