Memorial guard Drew Steffe becomes the 1st commit of the 2023 class.

Steffe also was on The Field of 68 with Texas Tech favorite Jeff Goodman

RedRaiderSports’ Chase Champlin and InsideTheRedRaiders’ Austin Massey spoke to Steffe about his commitment:

“Just the staff as a whole, how they are always there for me, and anything I needed they have. Everyone welcomed me in. During the visit, we went to the game vs. West Virginia which was really cool. We went to lunch and dinner, hung out with the players, and on the last day went to the practice facility. They showed me a slideshow and after that, I knew I was ready to tell them I wanted to commit.”

In terms of highlights? They are all over the internet. I think that Steffe’s dad is a basketball promoter and works in the world of AAU and things like that and also played in college.

Steffe is a shooting guard. Pure and simple. Maybe scoring guard is a better term. Steffe has a fantastic shot, can seemingly get his shot from just about anywhere. At 6’5″ that helps as he’s not a smaller guard. He’s got nice vision and handles and that’s a plus. As we know, Adams doesn’t necessarily have to have a point guard to run his system. Steffe also has a nice shot-release, it’s really quick.

This is an awesome start for the 2023 class. I hear about kids reclassifying to another class and wonder if Steffe would do that as he seems college-ready as a junior.
