As part of the holiday, I was able to get caught up on the 2023 class, which includes all 5 commits and getting player profiles completed and this is the last one (for now).
RedRaiderSports’ Ben Golan talked with Sill regarding his commitment:
Coach Blanchard, he was the first guy to reach out to me when he was at Baylor. He watched our second game of the season back in August and he reached out to me. He said he was impressed by what he saw and he would send me game invites for Baylor. When McGuire moved to Tech, Blanchard came with him and I didn’t even know that. He called me and said he wanted to offer me to Tech, and I had no idea that he’d even gone with coach McGuire. He’s been very helpful and meaningful to me.
Loyalty is very important. He was the first guy to believe in me, the first one to offer me and so it wouldn’t have felt right if I had gone anywhere else. He was first to believe in me so it was important to commit as much to them as they’ve committed to me.
You always like to see players play at that left tackle spot early. I think that Sill has some work to do with some strength issues, but he makes up for it in attitude and tenacity. Sill is a good athlete and that’s probably why he’s a left tackle as a junior, because he’s really pretty athletic. His Hudl profile says he runs a 4.9 40-yard dash and it might not be that, but it might be pretty close. I also like his posture, he’s down but not hunched. It helps to have a hand on the ground so much, but maybe that’s a byproduct of the type of high school offense he runs. Even in pass protection, he’s bending at the waist, not leaning over.
