I am all but certain that this weekend is the most excited I am to watch another Big 12 game other than Texas Tech as the Sooners and Cowboys are set to play. Can’t wait for this game.
Conference
KANSAS STATE (7-4, 4-4) |
@ | TEXAS (4-7, 2-6) |
---|
Date & Time: Friday, November 26th @ 11:00 am
TV: FOX
Line: Texas -2.0
Commentary: Kansas State loses at home to Baylor by 10 last week, where Baylor’s defense shined and held K-State to 10 points at home. The Longhorns lost to West Virginia by 9 and they look absolutely lost and I’m fine with that. The Longhorns are not bowl eligible and unless they send back the winnings that the other bowl teams will have earned (every Big 12 team gets a cut) then they are being subsidized by the rest of the Big 12. There’s no way in heck I’d take Texas for this game on a moneyline and depending on the spread, I wouldn’t take Texas. With them being favored that seems like easy money to take K-State.
TCU (5-6, 3-5) |
@ | IOWA STATE (6-5, 4-4) |
---|
Date & Time: Friday, November 26th @ 3:30 pm
TV: FS1
Line: Iowa State -14.5
Commentary: Iowa State lost two in a row, last week by 7 to Oklahoma, and I’d think that they would get back on track this week. TCU does beat Kansas by 3 at home and every weekend I wonder how Texas Tech was boat-raced by the Longhorns and horned Frogs. I don’t think there’s going to be this much to the game, and would think that an afternoon game in Ames after a holiday would lead to zero drinking. Zero drinking at all.
TEXAS TECH (6-5, 3-5) |
@ | BAYLOR (9-2, 6-2) |
---|
Date & Time: Saturday, November 27th @ 11:00 am
TV: FS1
Line: Baylor -14.0
Commentary: Baylor’s defense is not as good as Oklahoma State’s but it is comparable. The Bears are within shot of double-digit wins and that’s something to shoot for. Wonder if Joey McGuire will give Texas Tech any pointers this week. Would be nice, but not sure if it will be enough. I think I also read that Baylor quarterback Gerry Bonahan strained his hamstring at the end of the Kansas State game and his availability is questionable. This could be a similar game as last week for Texas Tech and my thought is that Sonny Cumbie is in full-on interview mode with this game and showing if he can make adjustments with good to excellent defenses.
WEST VIRGINIA (5-6, 3-5) |
@ | KANSAS (2-9, 1-7) |
---|
Date & Time: Saturday, November 27th @ 6:00 pm
TV: FS1
Line: West Virginia -15.0
Commentary: Kansas played TCU really tight, in fact they scored 14 points in the 4th quarter and made the TCU game close. West Virginia trouncing Texas is not a surprise and Jarret Doege threw for nearly 300 yards and Brown ran for over 150, so offensively they appear to be much better. West Virginia is playing for bowl eligibility and would think that’s a pretty big deal for Neal Brown. Most teams can handle Kansas pretty easily, but TCU is fairly depleted at this point so I’m not sure why that game was so close. Maybe Kansas is just getting better as the year progresses (which is a real possibility, I think their hire of Lance Leipold is spot-on). I’ll still take the Mountaineers here.
OKLAHOMA (10-1, 7-1) |
@ | OKLAHOMA STATE (10-1, 7-1) |
---|
Date & Time: Saturday, November 27th @ 6:30 pm
TV: ABC
Line: Oklahoma State -3.5
Commentary: The game of the year for the Big 12. Oklahoma sort of squeaks by Iowa State at home and Oklahoma State dominated Texas Tech. This sets up the two best teams in the Big 12 to play each other in what might be a preview of the Big 12 Championship. Oklahoma State’s defense is so good and Oklahoma’s quarterbacks are struggling a bit to make plays and not throw interceptions. Oklahoma State’s defense is all business and that front 7 is the best I’ve seen in quite some time. I am truly excited to watch this game, this will be appointment television for me. And Oklahoma has been dominant in this series, OSU has been the little brother for as long as this series has been a thing and if there’s a year to break that mold, this would be it. Quick thought. What are the odds that Oklahoma goes into the transfer portal at quarterback in the winter? As to this game, I’ll take Oklahoma State for this game at home.
