Starting 5
1. Stats. Incarnate Word is struggling out of the gate. Losses to Texas State, Baylor (by 27) and Concordia. Offensively IWU turns the ball over a ton and don’t rebound the ball on the offensive side of the floor. They do shoot relatively well, so that’s something to watch. They’re a top 50% shooting team. Defensively is where Incarnate Word really struggles, 337th in eFG%, 349th in offensive rebounds allowed and 309th in turnovers.
2. Scouting. Josh Morgan is good. He’s a really good shooter, he is decent defensively, and is also handling the ball a ton. Griscti is a good shooter as well and despite being 6-11, he’ll launch from deep. Hughes and Ezedinma are the best rebounders on the team.
3. How They Match Up. With Shannon coming back, this will change the dynamics quite a bit for Texas Tech, am not sure who leaves the starting lineup, but would guess that it would be Warren because Warren and Shanon are similar players. Wilson could be another option, but the offense flows so well with Wilson on the floor and you’ll notice that if he’s not on the floor.

5. Official Site. The official site has their preview right here:
Texas Tech is making a break for South Padre Island this weekend to take on Incarnate Word at 4 p.m. on Saturday in the South Padre Island Battle on the Beach showcase event that will be played at the SPI Convention Centre. Terrence Shannon, Jr. will make his season debut after being cleared to play immediately on Wednesday.
The Red Raiders (3-0) have started the season with three straight home wins and are venturing outside of Lubbock for the first time this season, while UIW (0-3) comes into the game with losses to Texas State, Baylor and Concordia. TTU is 3-0 all-time against the Cardinals after earning a 79-51 win last season on Dec. 29, 2020 where Kevin McCullar and Marcus Santos-Silva led the team with 11 points each. Full PDF game notes and a press conference previewing the matchup will be posted and distributed later this week.
