Texas Tech Stuff: Radio Crew Suspended for OSU Game; Shannon to Return Saturday

Calling a bit of an audible so that I can address some of the bigger news stories from yesterday and so you have a place to discuss.

Brian Jensen and John Harris have been suspended by the Big 12 for the Oklahoma State game for their comments during the Iowa State game. I’ve embedded the offending language and I’m going to zig when everyone else will zag, which is that if the rules are that radio broadcasters are not supposed to criticize the officials to the extent that Harris and Jensen did, well, then, they deserved to be suspended.

I honestly don’t know the rules regarding how broadcasters are supposed to act and my guess is that there is a code of conduct. Jensen and Harris went out with an absolute bang and they earned every bit of that suspension. It was actually quite hilarious and I’d also tell you that of all of the games they’ve called I’ve never heard them go that over the top regarding the officiating and my guess is that they knew exactly what they were doing and they knew they would likely be suspended.

Do I think that this is a big deal? No, it’s a game and it’s not the end of the world. It is one game and I am sure they are disappointed, but I’d guess that they’re glad they did what they did.

Terrence Shannon, Jr. announced on Twitter followed up by an official statement by the program that Shannon would be back on Saturday and any potential NCAA violations are free and clear. Perhaps the bigger question is who do you take out of the starting lineup?

Texas Tech junior Terrence Shannon, Jr. has been cleared to play immediately and will be with the Red Raiders this weekend for their game against Incarnate Word in South Padre Island. All questions related to his NBA Draft process have been resolved.

I’ve finished 3 of the 5 player profiles, so that’s good news and have the 2 2023 recruiting profiles remaining. We’ve got the 7 Point Preview for Friday that I’m working on as well as a preview of Texas Tech vs. Incarnate Word to be played in South Padre on Saturday. It’s gonna be a busy next few days.
