Texas Tech received their second commitment from the 2022 class in Colorado offensive lineman Kaden Weatherby.

In Weatherby’s commitment tweet, he thanks all of his coaches and his parents as he commits to the Red Raiders. This article from the Denver Post discusses Weatherby and his teammate, Braden Miller, as well as Weatherby’s trainer mentioned in his tweet, who says that he can’t keep Weatherby out of the gym:

“The reason I love what I do so much is because of guys like this,” said McChesney, whose full-service athletic training facility has helped send hundreds of area athletes to college football programs over the last decade. “They both know they’re good and they both know they have a ton of potential. They don’t rest on it. They work on it. … I can’t keep Miller and Weatherby out of the gym. I have to tell them to take days off.”

In the video, Weatherby is at the right tackle spot, guessing that the other big lineman is Miller at left tackle (who committed to Michigan State). Weatherby looks really mobile, he’s not flat-footed and he’s got some strength there for sure. I would like to see better use of the hands rather than rely on that strength and size. I think the technical aspect of being a lineman is a bit away, but the tools are all there.

Weatherby is the first offensive commit for Texas Tech with Hut Graham, the commitment from Thursday of last week, a likely defensive recruit.
