Arizona center Daniel Batcho (6-11/245) announced yesterday that he would transfer to Texas Tech.

Batcho is originally from Paris, France and sat out all of last year and was the, “MVP of the adidas Next Generation Tournament in Belgrade in February 2020, averaging 14.8 points, 11.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocked shots while also shooting 69.7 percent inside the arc over the four games.”
Batcho’s commitment does have a bit of risk in that he was out all of the 2018-19 season and then all of last year with injuries. In January of this year then Arizona head coach Sean Miller described Batcho’s game:
“I think he could play both positions (center and power forward) for us,” Miller said in May. “He’s aggressive. He’s a very good defensive rebounder, adept at FIBA basketball where pick-and-roll and playing up and down, being able to defend pick-and-rolls, those are things that he’s been doing for a number of years. Hungry guy, a guy that loves the game. Really excited to have him.”
What does Batcho bring bring?
I think that Batcho is more skilled than Vladislov Goldin, he finishes with both hands really well, I think he’s pretty athletic overall and I’d guess that he’s got a good shot outside, although we really don’t get to see it here, Batcho has this interview in French where he does show an outside jumper around the 4 minute mark. I think this is a solid pick-up and if Batcho is healthy, he’ll play for sure.
Now we get to that famed eligibility Chart and Batcho will have all four years of eligibility and things are really filling out with just 2 spots remaining.
And pour one out for Avery Benson, who announced yesterday that he would enter the transfer portal. Much success and much love in his future endeavors.
