Good morning gang.
A relatively busy weekend.
Texas Tech took the Texas series, 2-1 with a bit of a weird ending to the second game. The series thread has been updated and has all of the links to the games. Texas Tech won the first game 6-3, then on Saturday Texas Tech was up 5-3 with Texas loading the bases and 2 out. A rain ended up delaying the finish of game 2 until Sunday when Texas Tech finished the job. The Red Raiders dropped the last game, but the series was won.
That puts Texas Tech in 3rd place at 10-8 in the Big 12 with TCU 15-3 and Texas at 13-5. Behind Texas Tech is Baylor at 7-8. Texas Tech still has Oklahoma and Kansas on the schedule.
Mark Adams and Texas Tech gained the commitment from Hampton wing Davion Warren Friday night. This was a bit of a surprise for me, but if you head over to the link, you see the updated eligibility roster and Texas Tech has a ton of wings available.
Adams also made it official by hiring Darryl Dora as the Director of Player Development:
“My family and I couldn’t be more excited about being back at Texas Tech and having this opportunity to work with Coach Adams and our players,” Dora said. “Working directly with the guys in a role where I can help them become successful is what I really like. I see myself as a big brother and mentor to them, but I will also keep them accountable and push them to become better. There’s some hard love there because I’ve been in their position before and know what it takes to be successful.”
Really happy that Dora is returning.
The NFL Draft was this past weekend and Texas Tech had 2 players selected in the 7 round draft, Zech McPhearson was drafted in the 4th round by the Philadelphia Eagles and Jack Anderson was drafted in the 7th round by the Buffalo Bills. In additon to McPhearson and Anderson, T.J. Vasher was signed to a free agent deal with the Dallas Cowboys and Eli Howard was signed by the Atlanta Falcons.
Congrats to all four men, go chase those dreams!
