Last year, Williams was a redshirt sophomore, originally from Memphis, Tennessee, where he played in limited action in 2018 (the 4 game limit allowed Williams to retain his redshirt), played in all 12 games as an actual freshman where he logged 33 tackles and 2 passes broken up, but then only played in 6 games last year where he had 9 tackles and 1 pass-break-up.
Williams was a 3-star player coming out of high school, with offers from a handful of SEC teams, (Vanderbilt, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee).
We’ve talked before about how Texas Tech needs to improve just about every position and this is a player that should be immediately eligible (fingers crossed) and Williams adds a player that adds some depth and hopefully talent at the cornerback position.
