Podcasts. Check out your guys, Spencer and Michael, on 23 Personnel Podcast, a Texas Tech athletics podcast where food and sports clash at the goal line, as well as Keith Patrick and Dinger Derby, the only, yes only, podcast about Texas Tech baseball.

Same schedule as always. I’ll have the initial game day thread going up at 3:30 p.m. with kickoff starting at 4:30 p.m. The general game day thread goes up at 10:00 a.m. I also realized last night that I did not post the community position grades from the Iowa State game and I’ve summarized them below (which I think works better than taking a handful of screenshots). This is one of those things that I either run out of time or forget to do. It’s below the links and if you need a laugh, this may hit the spot.

“I’m not ready to sit up here and announce that we’ve arrived,” Neal Brown said. “We’re getting ready to go into this stretch … I think these next four weeks will kind of be the tale. You ask me this in a month, I’ll have a really firm answer for you as far as how much improvement. We’re definitely better, but how much I think the next four weeks will tell.”

* Midland Reporter-Telegram’s Oscar LeRoy: Texas Tech turns to Colombi in must-win game

In hopes of providing a spark, the Red Raiders are going with junior and former Utah State transfer Henry Colombi at quarterback in place of Alan Bowman. Wells said that the switch had nothing to do with Bowman’s overall performance, but it was obvious he felt it was a necessary move seeing how the offense operated under Colombi when he was inserted into the Kansas State and Iowa State games. He has completed 74% of his passes for 359 yards and three touchdowns.

“His job is to play well, to distribute the ball and get through his progressions,” Wells said. “Other guys need to play well around him. It’s also part of the quarterback’s job to try to inspire and play to the level of those guys around you. They do need to respond to him in order for us to play better on offense.”

“It’s obvious that if you don’t have information on someone you are playing, it makes it a little tougher to defend them,” said Jahmile Addae, WVU’s co-defensive coordinator.

“The one thing we know is these guys have had two weeks and that lends to maybe doing some things that fit his skill set more than a different quarterback,” Addae said. “What we like to do week in and week out is to build everything we do with rules that will allow us to be mistake free and play fast.

“When we do that without beating our chests as coaches and just turn them loose, it’s more so not screwing it up as opposed to outwitting ourselves. In terms of a replacement quarterback it’s a tough position to play whether you are a freshman or a senior,” Addae said.

Iowa State community grades. I didn’t have enough time to change the color so you get blue. Womp, womp, womp.
