You know what’s not good? Alabama having over 500 students testing positive for COVID-19. It’s not good if you want football. I know that Nick Saban is doing all of the right things (guessing here, but he seems like the sort of guy that doesn’t like chaos and COVID-19 is the definition of chaos for a college football coach). Of course, I am not overly worried about those kids. There’s a good chance they’ll all be okay, but then they could infect people who could be higher at risk. This is a problem for us getting to watch football. And don’t be surprised if there’s an outbreak. I think I read that NC State had an outbreak on their football team with 27 cases. This is where all of the planning that Wells & Co. have done will come into play. That’s not sarcasm, I think they are trying to continue to live with the virus because infections are going to happen..

Heartland College Sports’ Pete Mundo wonders if Texas Tech is a sleeper pick of the Big 12?

All in all, none of this means Texas Tech fans should be clearing the weekend of either December 12th or December 19th, when the Big 12 Championship game is going to be played. But it does mean that if this upcoming season clicks just right, the transfers surprise and the close games go the Red Raidersโ€™ way this fall, maybe itโ€™s Texas Tech who is upsetting a favorite or two in the conference and pushing their way to a finish in the top-half of the Big 12 Conference.

I don’t know if you need to really understand betting (I don’t) to read this, but BetOnline.ag does not think that Texas Tech has a good chance to win the Big 12. I am a bit surprised that Texas Tech is 9th, some of the other Vegas books have had Texas Tech in the 7th or so spot and lumped with West Virginia, Kansas State, and TCU. With TCU losing their starting quarterback, that may not be the best bet to take.

And generally speaking, I think the right way to read this is that if you place $100 bet on Texas Tech, you would win $6,600 (I think. I don’t bet, so I’m not totally sure, but is my understanding. I’m sure I’ll be corrected if I’m wrong.)
