Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams is reporting that Texas Tech is attempting to play a full schedule until they can’t, reaching out to various college programs in order to fill the Arizona vs. Texas Tech game that was slated to be played on September 19th before the Pac-12 decided to cancel their non-conference schedule.

Tech senior associate AD Robert Giovannetti declined to name the eight schools with whom Tech has had conversations, other than identifying two as from the power-five. He said Tech strongly prefers to replace the lost Sept. 19 home game with another Sept. 19 home game rather than go on the road or try to rearrange the schedule to make another date work.

At the end of this article is a note that incoming transfer linebacker Brandon Bouyer-Randle received a waiver and received his junior year back, which was cut short in an injury plagued season for Michigan State last year.

Watch Stadium’s Jeff Goodman asked about the best assistant coaches in the Big 12 and Mark Adams was given the #2 spot:

“Mark Adams is a winner. He has won at every level of college basketball as a head coach. Everyone in our program — myself included — benefits daily from Coach Adams’ experience, work ethic and his ability to form real relationships. Our players love him except after a missed box out.” – Texas Tech coach Chris Beard

“He’s probably the only guy that’ll be on the list that doesn’t recruit, but he’s been so valuable to Texas Tech and to (Chris) Beard because of his ability to run the defense. They have been so good on that end of the floor that he deserves it.” – Big 12 assistant

24/7 Sports Chris Hummer was the first to report that former Texas Tech quarterback Jett Duffey has committed to Hampton, but may not be playing football? Not sure if Duffey will stick with this commitment to Hampton or try to play a final year.
