RedRaiderSports’ Ben Golan talked to Davies-Balogun about what made him pick Texas Tech:
Why Texas Tech: “Really it felt like the best fit for me. It’s not too close to home like I would like it to be but it’s definitely a good position for me to be in. I know being in Lubbock it’s going to be good for me because it’ll keep me focused on what I’m there to do so that really just pushed it over the edge for me. Just seeing what they’ve done and who they’ve brought through there is just something I want to be a part of.”
Golan noted that Davies-Balogun is originally from Richmond, Texas, played high school ball with Texas Tech offensive lineman Will Farrar, and Davies-Balogun had 53 tackles, 11 TFL, and 7.5 sacks last year.
Davies-Balogun is long and lean and does have a nice athletic bend and ability to get around the tackle. I wonder how that athleticism will translate to the Big 12, if he gets a step, then that might be it, but if the tackle gets his hands on Davies-Balogun, then that might be a tough situation for him. Still, this is a position that needs depth and needs someone that can get to the quarterback. That has to be a priority this year and since Davies-Balogun is going to be here in a week, well, we’re going to find out real quick what he has to offer.
