The Oral History of the ‘Wayne’s World’ ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Scene. Via Rolling Stone:

Then, in 1992, Mike Myers used “Bohemian Rhapsody” as the rambunctious centerpiece of the indelible opening scene of the film, Wayne’s World, which had been adapted from a Saturday Night Live sketch of the same name, and gave the song and the band behind it an unprecedented second life. Wayne Campbell’s simple act of popping a cassette in the tape player of his friend Garth Algar’s AMC Pacer, not only returned “Bohemian Rhapsody” to the radio — it would eventually rise to Number Two on the pop charts, despite the fact that Queen lead singer Freddie Mercury died of AIDS less than three months before the film’s release — and made it a staple on MTV, it also introduced the song and the band to a new generation of listeners. The gleeful scene has become iconic itself, a cultural touchstone that’s been parodied, copied and celebrated almost since the moment of its release back in 1992. Here, the creative forces behind the scene and the beneficiaries of its influence tell the story of how all that happened and how it almost didn’t.

A Look Back at the Decade. Pretty fun stuff. Lots of terrific moments.

Texas Tech Volleyball

Lady Raider Basketball

Lady Raiders Host Iowa State Tonight. The Lady Raiders (11-0, 0-0) open conference play by hosting Iowa State (8-3, 0-0) tonight at 7:00 p.m. and should broadcast on FSSW tonight as well.

Texas Tech Baseball

2020 NCAA Division I Baseball Committee. I don’t really know what this means, but I’m guessing that it is important.

Texas Tech Basketball

Beard on CBS Sports. I didn’t watch the special last night, but I understand that earlier basketball games that ran long may mess with my DVR recording.

Beard on Oklahoma State. Game is set for tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. against Oklahoma State, televised on ESPN2.

Texas Tech Football

Utah State’s LaValle to Transfer to Texas Tech. Via Inside The Red Raiders’ Jarrett Johnson reports that Utah State linebacker Christian Lavalle (5-11/240) is transferring to Texas Tech. At Utah State in 2019, LaValle redshirted and in his final year at Mission Viejo in California, he was the 84th best player in the state, had 132 tackles, 1 sack and 22 TFL’s as a senior. At Utah State, he was listed as a defensive tackle and Johnson’s initial story says that LaValle is 6-0/228, his Hudl said that he is 6-1/225. That’s a pretty wild swing and I’m interested in what LaValle actually is, linebacker or defensive lineman, but would guess linebacker. I’m also not sure if LaValle takes up a scholarship or not.
