Jung Receivers Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award. Star-Telegram’s Drew Davison writes about Josh Jung receiving the Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award and also talked about Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock:

Jung takes pride in being the second winner from Texas Tech, which has turned into a baseball powerhouse under Tim Tadlock. The Red Raiders have reached the College World Series in four of his seven seasons, including three of the last four.

“It’s pretty special to get an offer from there,” Jung said. “Coach Tadlock has done an amazing job with a team. We go out there as a team and family and compete.

“That program is going to win a national title here pretty soon. I have a good feeling. To be a part of that program and tradition is pretty cool.”

Highlights and Photos. Didn’t get any actual highlights after the game and when the official site posts to the exposure.co site, the photos look really amazing. Not sure what they do to them, but it’s worth the click on over.

Texas Tech vs. West Virginia History. Avalanche-Journal’s Don Williams writes about the history between Texas Tech and West Virginia:

Before the 2016 game at Jones AT&T Stadium, Tech players took exception to West Virginia players carrying out their pre-game ritual that involves slamming a sledgehammer into the turf. The tension seemed to carry over to 2017 in Morgantown, West Virginia, where another pre-game skirmish broke out.

“There’s some heat there. There definitely is,” Mountaineers tackle Colton McKivitz said back in July at Big 12 media days. “But there’s something special about each team in the Big 12. There’s different things that teams bring to the table, and I think Texas Tech has their own thing.

“One of the craziest things I’ve seen at a Tech-WVU game was someone threw a taco shell or whatever — the tortillas. We had just scored or whatever, and we were in an O-line meeting sitting there on the bench and one came flying in and hit our O-line coach in the foot.

“It was probably the craziest thing I’ve seen during our rivalry, so it’s just those little things that make those kind of games special.”
