Texas Tech has their second commit of the 2021 class (The first commit is Cale Sanders, Jr., a defensive back from New Caney [yabba], who committed back in September. I normally don’t cover commits a year and a half out, but maybe I should) as Eastland quarterback Behren Morton committed to Texas Tech today. Morton is a 4-star quarterback by 2 of 3 services, so that probably makes him a 4-star by most metrics and Rivals will probably bump him up at some point.
The thing that stands out to me is Morton’s touch, it is quite advanced in his junior film and I’d imagine that this is a huge part of the appeal. Plus Morton’s ability to throw on the run is pretty uncanny. He does a ton of rollouts in high school and he’s really got his guys pegged in terms of where they’re supposed to be and delivering the ball. He’s ridiculously mobile and I pretty much love everything about what he’s dong as a quarterback. The accuracy and timing are top-notch and he has a very good arm to deliver those deep passes like a dime are quite impressive.
