Well, Oklahoma State seems to have re-tooled and is ready to go. Perfect timing if you ask me. Oklahoma State is 4-1 on the year, beating Oregon State on the road, easily handling McNeese State to open the home slate, going on the road and beating Tulsa by 19, then losing a tough game to Texas in Austin by 6, and then earning their first conference win against Kansas State, 26-13, on Saturday.

2 . . .

Sean Gleason was picked from Princeton as the new offensive coordinator and Gleason was known for being a guy that was really innovative and could score, 47 points a game, 536 total yards per game, 295 yards rushing a game, etc. So with a quarterback that can run and a really terrific running back, well, you can imagine that things are about to get interesting again.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jim Knowles is the defensive coordinator and he is in his second year and had been coaching at Duke for 8 years or so. The Oklahoma State defense is okay, not great, but okay. I think that Gundy has sort of searched for the right answer, but it’s difficult in the Big 12.

3 . . .

Quarterback Spencer Sanders is averaging about 208 yards passing and about 76 yards on the ground. Sanders is competing 65% of his passes for about 8 yard a pass, which is really good, and 8 touchdowns with 5 interceptions. Chuba Hubbard is averaging 188 yards a game and if you don’t think he’s going to see a healthy of carries on Saturday, you cray. Hubbard also has 10 rushing touchdowns thus far this year. The leading receiver, Tylan Wallace is averaging 124 yards receiving a game and has 6 touchdowns. So yes, The Cowboys absolutey have a big-3 and they are very, very good.

4 . . .

You’re going to love this. Linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga is the leading tackler along with safety Malcolm Rodriguez. Amen has 42 tackles, 3.5 sacks, so he’s your pass-rusher sort of guy. There are obviously other defenders, but these two guys really stand out statistically. Not a ton of guys that have great stats, but it’s still early.

You’ve been waiting for your player ratings and hopefully this is a bit easier to read. Again, I’m making efforts to make everything readable and please click on the link for a full size version. Oh, and shout-out to the guy or gal who gave everyone a 5 except for the cornerbacks. Oh, and sorry for the blue color, I’m not smart enough to figure out how to change the colors in excel, so you’ll just have to appreciate that I’m giving full effort.
