Barely Caught Up. Well, I’m barely caught up and I’m still tired. Always funny how long weekends end up tiring you out more than actually getting any rest.

Coordinators Calling. A-J Media’s Don Williams writes about how he helps manage the game, whether to punt or go for it, saying that it is his responsibility, while offensive coordinator David Yost and defensive coordinator Keith Patterson call the actual offensive and defensive plays:

β€œI’m on both headsets,” Wells said. β€œI’m making a decent amount of calls in terms of the kicking game with coach Tommerdahl. I help coach Yost in terms of going for it, punting, kicking field goals, all that kind of stuff.

β€œYou just manage the game from a head-coaching situation: time management, your timeouts, substitutions, special-teams substitutions, special-teams adjustments, a handful of offensive adjustments, looking at what they do on offense to help the defense in any way I can.”

Miscellaneous . . . A-J Media’s Don Williams has a notebook, nothing really new there, but there is the note that Matt Wallerstedt is the defensive line coach, Wallerstedt was the former Texas Tech defensive coordinator . . . LandGrant Gauntlet’s Bret Branson recaps the Montana State and Texas Tech game . . . Heartland College Sports’ Pete Mundo has his Big 12 power rankings . . . SI’s Ross Dellenger wrote about the 2016 coaching searches between LSU and Texas, how Tom Herman probably played both sides of the job openings . . .
