Lots of hugs, lots of congratulations, lots of love on that field.
“The program can’t give back as much as you’re going to give the program.” — Matt Wells
That’s eight players who are now on scholarship:
- Tight End Tyler Carr
- Tight End Connor Killian
- Wide Receiver Caden Leggett
- Linebacker Michael Nelson
- Inside Receiver Mark Richardson
- Inside Receiver Dalton Rigdon
- Running Back Jax Welch
- Defensive Lineman Malik Essilfie
I know a bit about Carr, Killian, Leggett, Rigdon and Welch. Carr is a sophomore from Amarillo, Killian is a junior from Keller, Leggett is a redshirt freshman from Georgetown, Rigdon is a sophomore from Perryton, and Welch is a junior from Odessa. Nelson is a sophomore linebacker from Brandeis in San Antonio who was a redshirt in 2017, then scout team in 2018. There’s hardly any information on Richardson’s bio other than he’s a sophomore receiver from Allen that played quarterback and receiver (Hudl). Essilfie started his football career at Henderson State in 2015, then transferred to Texas Tech and was a scout team member last year.
Congrats to all of these student-athletes, that walk-on life cannot be easy so really happy for these guys to be rewarded for their dedication to the program.
And as an added bonus, you also get the video of the players calling their parents, which is also awesome as well.
