RedRaiderSports’ Matt Clare spoke with Blidi about his commitment and his commitment:
The 6-foot-4, 253-pound prospect actually committed to the coaching staff weeks ago, but waited to announce his decision with the video linked above. He shared more about moment he committed to the Tech coaching staff.
“Well, we have been talking for a long time, building a relationship,” Blidi said. “I have seen them 3-4 times this off-season and really liked getting to know the coaching staff and learning what they are all about. I actually committed several weeks ago. I called Coach Wells first, then I spoke with Coach Randolph and some of the other coaches.
“We just talked and I let them know that I was ready to commit. They were really fired up, very excited and told me that I have a really bright future.”
Blidi is a shark amongst minnows in his highlight video and just absolutely dominates his highlight video it is so difficult to judge the talent of a player. I recall when Ronnie Daniels committed to Texas Tech and he was an absolute terrific running back, but he had so many off-the-field problems that he never made the expected impact. With that being said, Daniels highlight video was one where he was unstoppable on offense and the competition in New Mexico was one where he was simply too talented. Regardless of his competition, his athleticism jumps off the screen and for someone his size, the ability to get off the line is eye-popping and you can see his athleticism. I’m all about cornering the market on athletic defensive linemen who go unnoticed because of where they live and I think that if Blidi is in the DFW or Houston area, he’s got Power Five offers out the wazzu.
