Leading Off

What a Saturday/Sunday. My Sunday morning was pretty busy, it’s been a while since I’ve had to crank out that sort of content in such a short period of time. Good times.

I also saw Toy Story 4 with my family on Sunday and it was very good. I had moments within the first 5 minutes and at the end of the movie. My kids sort of grew up on Toy Story and one Christmas we gave Fitsum a Woody like in the movie and talk about something coming to life, that was it for him. Even on the way home, I tried to ask him what he thought about the movie and he said he didn’t want to talk about it, but I’m not sure what “it” was.

Welcome Home. I haven’t updated anything and probably won’t. Friday night I was exhausted and a double-digit win by Michigan meant that I was going to stay far away from baseball for a bit (partly because there were a lot of football commits, so I was distracted pretty quickly). The best finish ever. A Final Four finish and there will be a lot better informed people that can opine on how this team finished. Between us, every offseason I wonder how the offense wil find it’s footing after losing such good players. Eric Gutierrez. Hunter Hargrove. Josh Jung and Cam Warren. I think the pitching will be just fine, but there’s going be a pretty significant re-build and there is no one I’d rather have in charge than Tim Tadlock.

Mooney Signs with Atlanta; Owens Signs with Phoenix. Congrats to Matt Mooney wh ohas signed with the Atlanta Hawks and Tariq Owens for signing with the Phoenix Suns.

Texas Tech Football

Five? Six? Seven? On Saturday afternoon head coach Matt Wells kept upping the ante on the number of commits and by the end of the day on Saturday, he had “Wreck’Em x 6” and another “Wreck’Em” on Sunday but as of today, we only have 5 thus far. Wells has tweeted 7 Wreck’Em’s thus far, but only 5 are known.

Lots of receivers and skill guys on offense. That Joel Filani is doing some work on offense. I know there was a lot of angst when Emmett Jones went to Kansas, but Filani seems to be recruiting that DFW and East Texas area pretty well. Pretty well.

I did create the 2020 Commitment List on Sunday so please check that out.

If you are into where Texas Tech now ranks in their class, then Rivals has Texas Tech as the 50th best class and 24/7 Sports has Texas Tech with the 57th best class. Personally, I don’t really care about class ranking right now, it seems a bit premature, but if this is your thing and helps validate your position one way or another then have at it.

Big Boys Doing Work. I forgot to post this on Friday but it’s the big boys.

Offensive Line and Running Back Dinner. This happens every summer, the different position groups get together and have an outing, usually a dinner at a coach’s house.
