A-J Media’s Don Williams – Red Raiders plan on playing in Big 12 Tournament championship

So whereas Tech fans might be looking ahead to NCAA regional play, counting on a super regional and perhaps expecting a fourth College World Series trip in six years, the Red Raiders would like to win the Big 12 tournament for a change. That starts at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday when No. 1 seed Tech (36-15) takes on No. 8 seed Kansas State (25-31) at Bricktown Ballpark.

“We’d like to play until Sunday,” Tadlock said. “That would benefit us going into next week.”

Given that Tech hasn’t won the tournament since 1998 and has bigger goals, Tadlock was asked where this week’s affair ranks on his priority list.

“We’re going,” he said. “We’re driving up there. We’re going to be there. We want to win the tournament. They’re going to name a champion in the tournament. We’d like to do that.”
