A-J Media’s Don Williams recaps Friday night’s scrimmage:
The Red Raiders’ new coach saw some signs Friday night to be optimistic. Now Wells just has to hope it translates from a scrimmage during the middle of spring practice to real games come fall.
One of the bright spots from Tech’s annual spring showcase in the Permian Basin was the defense rising up to make three stops late in the 90-minute affair at Grande Communications Stadium.
“I thought the red zone defense was really good,” Wells said. “I thought they played excellent in the red zone — good enough to win a football game.”
