Player of the Game | Owens made a case for getting player of the game in the first half, and ended up with 12 points, 13 rebounds, 3 blocks, and 2 assists. But, I am giving this one to the superstar Culver who ended up with a complete game on the stat sheets with 15 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and a block. The only thing Culver struggled on was his 0-2 shooting from downtown with 4 turnovers.

Stat of the Game | The Red Raiders offense is still going strong down the stench to finish off the few remaining Big 12 regular season games. Hitting 22-58 (56.9%) and making 9 from the outside, compared to TCU who shot the ball with 4 more attempts than Tech, yet making 9 less shots than us on the offensive side of the floor. We are scoring and defending well… that’s what makes this team so deadly.

How the Game was Won | Texas Tech got out to a strong start in the first half going up by more than 20 points against the Frogs. Only to have TCU come back on a tear and cut the lead to single digits early in the 2nd. Tech flexed back partway through the 2nd half and put the hammer on TCU and regained the lead easily to coast to a large margin victory 81-66. This was not a game that we were able to put the backups in and roll to a victory, as TCU was not letting up. But, you never really got the feeling that TCU could overcome Tech when the pressure was on them.

Turning Point | Just under 5 minutes to play in the game and Mooney gave a pass to Culver who drove to the basket was a beautiful finishing slam on a Frogs player that put the dagger in Fort Worth to end any uncertainty that we would have a close finish in the final seconds. That was followed a few plays later with an owens dunk that put the lights out for TCU.

Team Observations | The defense was all over the place for the Red Raiders making it hard for TCU to get a whole lot of good looks at the basket.Moro keep his hot shooting alive, Mooney put the ball in when he needed, Culver was getting his shots, and Owens had himself a great game on the boards with some nice scoring. Corprew looked excellent off the bench with Francis hitting a few nice buckets. The squad took care of business and handled themselves well looking like a team that is going to be a tough out here in March.

That’s 7 straight Big 12 wins in a row folks. We are eyeing that Big 12 title, let’s close this regular season out without a doubt in anybody’s mind that we are the best team going into the tournament.
