The Texas Legislature is open for business in January and there is apparently some disagreement as to the the amount of funding for the Texas Tech vet school, via KCBD:
The two sides of the capitol have a $13 million difference when it comes to funding for the school, based on appropriation bills released Monday and Tuesday.
The House has a combined budget of $17.35 Million for the 2020 and 2021 fiscal years for the specific purpose of curriculum design, hiring of faculty and getting the planned four-year program in order.
The Senate’s bill isn’t as generous, and doesn’t see the planned Amarillo school as a foregone conclusion. Their budget offers just under $4.2 Million in the same two year people with a caveat that the funds will only be released once the legislature of Higher Education Coordinating Board has approved the program.
The article also notes that the there are no pending bills in the Senate or the House that creates the vet school. I understand the negotiating that’s about to happen in the House and Senate, but I can’t say that I understand what it means for there not to be a bill creating the school just yet (probably not good). Or what the order of this should be? Just not sure.
Texas Tech also announced today that the TexasTech.TV platform now has AppleTV and Roku apps so I guess now you can watch events using those streaming services. You still have to pay for the service in addition to paying for the TexasTech.TV subscription, which is $9.95 per month or $79 per year. The press release notes that the will televise a handful of spring sports so if this is your thing, you now can watch through those services.
From the comfort of your own 🏡.
We have launched @AppleTV & @Roku apps, giving fans two new platforms for live events and the best digital content.

Just one month away yesterday.
PerfectGame has capsules of all of their top 25 teams, including their preseason ranked #5 Texas Tech Red Raiders:
Why they’re here: Big arms, bats. The Red Raiders are going to be fun to watch this year, and while they did lose quite a few pieces to the draft, they did an excellent job quickly re-tooling their roster. That isn’t to mean they aren’t getting key contributors back, as their notable returners are highlighted by third baseman Josh Jung, who followed up a huge Freshman All-American season with national All-American campaign and a trip to Omaha. Gabe Holt hopes to follow in his footsteps after a Freshman All-American campaign of his own, while Cameron Warren and Brian Klein create further stability on the infield, and in the starting lineup. Caleb Kilian and John McMillon as expected to form a productive 1-2 punch at the top of the weekend rotation and overall Texas Tech should have no shortage of high-octane arms to throw at their opponents.
Other Big 12 programs in the top 25 is Baylor at #12, TCU at #16, and Oklahoma State at #18.

Everyone is back on campus. I haven’t heard of any significant transfers this spring, which doesn’t mean that it won’t happen, but I haven’t heard of any at this point.
It’s time to go to work. 💪

Miscellaneous . . . this is interesting, via DallasNews, former Kansas State quarterback Alex Delton is transferring to TCU as a grad transfer and this seems like an odd fit for TCU, who lost Shawn Robinson to a transfer to Missouri, but Delton isn’t exactly a passing machine . . .
