This is your open thread for the day. You all know what to do and expect nothing else but excellence.
I’m hoping that I’ve got everything listed correctly here. I don’t expect a ton of surprises, but you never know. I did want to point to A-J Media’s Don Williams who spoke with head coach Matt Wells about a time-table for hiring the three additional assistant coaches:
Wells has five offensive assistants in place, but only two defensive assistants. He also has several off-field staffers to hire. The American Football Coaches Association annual convention, a hot spot for networking, interviews and job offers, is Jan. 6-9 in San Antonio.
“My hope would be to be completely done (hiring) the first week of January when we get back,” Wells said. “The reality is that may not happen. We may need to use the convention for a couple more interviews or something like that.
“But I would like to have the off-the-field positions done, so internally we can get cranking on recruiting and 2020s (recruits) and spring ball and all those kinds of things. There may be one of those staff positions that we may need to take a little more time.”
Possible Commits
DE Steven Parker (6-4/220) South Oak Cliff: A player recruited heavily by former wide receivers coach Emmett Jones who was hired by Les Miles at Kansas, Parker stated that he would be deciding in February rather than deciding today. That obviously gives the staff more time to get to know Parker and recruit him, but it also gives programs such as Kansas, Colorado and others to recruit Parker.
WR La’Vontae Shenault (6-1/185) DeSoto: A player recruited by Jones, Shenault is deciding between Texas Tech and Kansas most likely.
APB Darrin Smith (5-8/183) Frisco: Smith is likely deciding between Texas Tech and TCU, with Smith to decide in February.
CB Keeyon Stewart (5-11/160) North Shore: Previously committed to Texas Tech, Stewart may flip to Houston or stick with the good guys.
ATH Dominic Tatum (6-3/180) Culver City, CA: Tatum committed to Nevada originally and then decommitted last night while stating that he would then not sign until February. Visited Texas Tech over the weekend.
DE Aaron Bredsguard (6-3/225) Bountiful, UT: A player originally committed to Utah State, there is some thought that he could flip his commitment. I have no idea if an offer has been extended and I couldn’t find where Bredsguard even has a Twitter account so there’s no telling.
RB Kyron Cumby (5-7/160) Plano: Currently committed to Illinois, but visited Texas Tech over the weekend.
Map Map Map Map
You get that if you’ve watched Dora the Explorer, but here’s a map, map, map, map of the current commits. I hope it is correct.
